In the games industry, world-building is the process of taking environment assets from a library of game art, which are then put together to create interesting compositions and final environments for games. This course involves the art of world-building an environment for Unreal Engine 4 (UE4). Emphasis will be on world-building and environment composition. The course is primarily designed for intermediate users aspiring to learn professional techniques for world-building with UE4. However, beginners to UE4 can also greatly benefit by taking this course. Students will be tasked with taking assets from a provided project, and using them to create an interesting environment. This course will not only involve world-building, but also teach how to setup materials. Students will see how to create material functions, master materials, and material instances. By the end of the course, students will have an intermediate to advanced knowledge in the areas of environment art and world-building. Students are responsible for providing themselves with access to hardware and any software required for the duration of the course.
